Who can apply for EBC?
For an EBC certificate, the following general eligibility requirements must be met:
1. A family with an annual income below Rs. 8 lakh
2. Agricultural land up to five acres in size
3. Flat residential space under 1,000 square feet
4. One hundred square yards or less of residential land in a notified municipality
5. The maximum size of a residential plot in an unnoticed municipality is 200 square yards.
The EBC certificate can be used for
- Government employment reservations and
- Educational scholarships.
EBC and SEBC are two distinct social categories in India:
EBC - Economically Backward Class
SEBC (Socially and Educationally Backward Class)
